Tom Calo is a character who appears in Escape Dead Island. He is the father of Cliff Calo and Alexis Calo and is a wealthy media mogul back in America. Throughout Cliff's early life, Tom didn't pay too much attention to him, being too busy to dedicate too much time towards bonding with Cliff. As a result of this, Cliff didn't take an interest in the business that Tom had created, becoming a wealth owner of several media corporations.
Cliff didn't pay attention in school and failed his college course, preferring to drink and party than help his father with the business or learn skills in education that would help him take over from his father when he retired. As such, Tom designated his daughter as his successor when the time for him to retire came, which surprised and insulted Cliff, as he assumed that he would take over the business. The reason for this decision was Tom's lack of faith and disappointment in Cliff failing his education and not taking an interest in the business, unlike his daughter.
To try and win back his father's respect and praise, Cliff decides to steal his boat and, along with his two friends Linda Waterson and Devan Mavropani, set sail to the Banoi Archipelago to document the goings on of GeoPharm and investigate reports of zombies on the island of Banoi. Tom finds out about this after the fact, and flies to the island chain using his personal helicopter to look for them. Upon hearing that Cliff has found out information about GeoPharm's activities on the island, he finally tells him that he's proud of him but, after all those years of neglect and the fact that he was likely going to abandon Devan after taking Cliff on the helicopter, Cliff refuses to give him the USB stick with the info and sets off alone to find Devan, leaving Tom to fly back to wherever he took off from. He's not seen or heard from after this except in Cliffs mind, but we can assume that he's returned to America, minus Cliff and the data.

- We never find out what sort of media Tom is a mogul of, whether it's television, radio or something else.
- It's said by Devan that all Cliff wants is for his father to 'give a shit' about him.
