The Propane Tank is an interactive item that is scattered around Banoi Island.
When picked up and thrown, it will stumble or knock down any zombie it comes in contact with, dealing a small amount of damage. After it is thrown, you automatically equip any firearm in your inventory. Failing that, if you don't have a firearm you'll just select a random melee weapon. You can't run or jump while carrying one of these, so make sure the area is clear before you pick one up. Also, unlike Gas Cans or Juice Packs, you can't place them on the flatbeds of vehicles.
When it is shot, or a melee weapon is thrown at it, the tank will explode, dealing explosive and then fire damage to all enemies or players in its blast radius.
Appearance[]
Propane tanks come in various colours and shapes, but the only ones that can be interacted with are the red ones. The ones you can pick are are short, round red propane tanks, the typical ones that are used on gas furnaces, etc. They are short with a gas tap at the top and a metal shield covering one side of it. There are also different coloured white and blue propane tanks, but these can't be picked up or exploded. The other type of propane tank is a tall, thin cylindrical type cannister that has a different gas tap at the top. As with the short can, only the red ones can be shot and explode, any other colour will just receive a bullet hole and nothing will happen.
Note[]
- There are several non-interactive acetylene tanks throughout the game, which appear as thinner, elongated propane tanks. Some are red and explode just like the propane tank; however, they are otherwise totally non-interactive.
- There are lighter coloured propane tanks that are neither interactive or combustible, being an off-white as shown in the gallery.
Locations[]
- Gas Stations always have a few lying around in various places.
- Two can be found in the Lifeguard Tower, though they will disappear after completing the main quest Exodus.
- In the Marina Workshop of the Resort where you take the armoured truck to be upgraded.
- The Pump Station in Moresby has several tanks inside.
- Most warehouses in Moresby will have at least one.
- Most of the Japanese Bunkers have one in them
- There's several in the bases of Afran and Vargas.
- At least one is in every outbuilding of the Laboratory complex.
- Various corridors of the Prison.
- Every arena of the Bloodbath Arena have at least one explosive barrel or propane tank in them.
