It is featured in the game following the initial hotel sequence, then the multiple cutscenes, finishing with Jack attempting to determine whether to bash the Hero in the head or not. At this point the player begins into the main game.
- This structure acts as the first Safe House the player will use, although lacking in many features, including a Fast Travel map, a merchant, and side quests, though the quest "The Lost" can be started both here and at the Lifeguard Tower.
- Following the Lifeguard Tower being cleared and the survivors moving there, this can still be used as a safe area, since zombies will not spawn in the Pool House, nor will they enter it if they are led to the house.
