The machete is a sharp melee weapon featured in Dead Island. It comes in many different variations throughout Banoi. Machete is commonly used for bushwhacking and often portrayed as a weapon of extreme violence. The lush jungles of Banoi would present a large market for these weapons, and as such are likely to be in abundance.

The very first machete the Heroes will receive will most likely be a Homemade Machete, and later in the game they will be able to buy them from uncommon to exceptional rarities. If one does not find a machete, they should check Javier Wimsatt's merchandise, as he usually has them in stock. He can be found outside of the Lighthouse. Xian Mei can perform a special attack when her first blade skill is upgraded. The skill is activated when you aim at a zombies head or neck, then Xian presses the blade against the zombies neck, causing roughly 1000-2000 damage.

Even low level machetes are deadly, having high cutting abilities and durability.
Machetes also have a fair maintenance price, making it one of the most useful items in-game.
It has low stamina usage and a fast swing speed, making it ideal for crowds, and for cutting off the limbs of zombies.
Putting a mod on the machete makes it an even deadlier weapon against the zombies and other in-game enemies.
