Second Aid is an easy difficulty side-quest given to the Hero by Otha Cantu in Dead Island.
Synopsis[]
The Hero must retrieve the medical supplies that have fallen and scattered beneath the bridge. Then they must be delivered to Paul at the Overpass Camp.
Walkthrough[]
- Talk to Otha to start the quest.
- She was delivering urgent medical supplies to the Overpass Camp when she was attacked on the bridge by zombies. She was bitten when a Walker smashed through the window and grabbed her arm, causing her to crash, which is how you first found her. She knows she will turn soon, so she asks you to retrieve the medical supplies from her wrecked pickup –which fell off the bridge– and deliver it to someone called Paul at the camp.
- The pickup truck and recommended starting point for this quest is to the front and right of Otha's position. Look down the bridge there and the wreckage will be visible below.
- There's a total of 5 medical boxes (these go straight into the player's inventory, so there's no need to carry them).
- Three are by the crashed pickup while another two are further down the ravine:
- The first box is still found lying on the pickup's flatbed.
- The second box lies near the tip of a broken log, just in front of the pickup. It's advisable to get this one before going for the (third) box below, as it won't be possible to climb back up to retrieve it without having to go all the way around and back to the top of the ravine.
- The third box can be seen below the truck lying on a rock formation (next to a metal chest).
- The fourth box lies roughly in the middle of the winding path down the ravine, shortly after the Butcher.
- The fifth and final box is located at the bottom of the ravine, partially submerged in a puddle of water.
- Due to the game engine's physics, it's easy to slip off the log and pickup, so go slowly and watch your footing. If you slip off, you'll likely die from the fall to the bottom.
- Once you have the three boxes from up top, you need to make your way to a natural stone bridge over to a native's hut. There is a Walker and a Butcher here, so be careful.
- The Butcher won't appear if the player hasn't yet visited the Ghost Town and seen the cutscene introducing this enemy (likely while doing the Chasing Shadows main quest).
- Continue down to the bottom of the ravine and collect the last boxes. If you missed any, you can always go around and back to the top of the ravine and try again, as you can't go back up from here.
- At this point, the player has two options:
- Make your way down the ravine until you find a slope up. You can run and jump your way up here to get onto the road. Backtrack to the bridge and talk to Otha once you have the boxes. She'll wish you luck and tell you where the Overpass Camp is. You're probably in a Jeep, so follow the minimap to reach the camp.
- From the bottom of the ravine just follow the quest tracker on the map/minimap and head directly to the camp on foot, which is relatively near.
- Once at the Overpass Camp, find Paul in the main hut, talk to him to hand over the supplies to finish the quest.
Notes[]
- The medical boxes appear as red hand icons on the minimap, so you can tell easily if you missed any.
- There's a level 2 metal chest on the rock formation that is below the pickup truck (next to the third medical supplies box).
- If you return to the bridge after delivering the supplies, Otha will be missing (having either turned and wandered off as a zombie or thrown herself off the bridge to avoid turning).
- There's a group of Walkers and a Butcher just before the Overpass Camp. Make sure to try and avoid them or run them over.
- If you continue left down the ravine, past the slope up to the road, you can find Jason at his hut and collect the secret weapon: a chainsaw.
- If you continue right down the ravine and head in the opposite direction of the camp, you will find a camp of medical tents (the same type to those you find in the Quarantine zone in the city of Moresby). There are three jungle muggers armed with rifles and a metal chest in this location.
- If you kill them and move away from the area, they will be replaced with a Thug and some Walkers, since the muggers are now dead.
