The Hat Stand is a type of blunt weapon featured in Dead Island.
Overview[]
Hat stands, like other basic weapons in the game, do not scale their stats with a character's level making them all but useless by the time the player starts finding them. In addition, they cannot be modified, cannot be upgraded, cannot be repaired at a workbench, and upon reaching 0% durability they will simply be discarded by the Heroes. They have terrible stats in all aspects, be it damage, force or durability. They deal similar damage to Fists but unlike Fists, Hat Stands break after killing just a few Zombies, thanks to their low durability. Unlike other basic weapons such as the Stick, thanks to no weapon Mods being applicable to Hat Stands as well as it not being repairable at a workbench, there's little use to use a Hat Stand when encountered, especially considering the point in the game they first appear, when far better weapons have already been acquired. They can only take out a few Walkers before breaking and are completely useless against harder enemies such as Thugs. The only reason to take up a valuable inventory slot with a hat Stand is if it's going into storage as a novelty item, or maybe as a 'mascot' or good luck charm.
