Family Matters is a medium difficulty side quest given to the Hero by Max in Dead Island.
Synopsis[]
The Hero must find Kelly's husband, William, who is located at the Diamond Bungalows.
Walkthrough[]
- Talk to Max to start the quest.
- Max tells you that Kelly is worried about her husband Will, who is missing. She gives you a brief description of him and where he was last seen, which is the Diamond Bungalows.
- If you have the Lighthouse unlocked already, fast travel to it. It will make it a lot easier.
- If not, use the car if you have completed Lazarus Rising to drive to the Lighthouse.
- If both those options are not available, walk along the beach to see the sights and to get to the Lighthouse that way. There's usually Infected and Walkers on the beach, so be careful if you're going that way.
- Once you're at the Lighthouse, get down to the beach via the pathway next to it. If you travelled here via the beach in the first place, you can skip this step.
- There'll be a bar directly behind the Lighthouse on the beach. Go behind it and get onto the wooden walkway, which leads to a fork. There'll be a couple of Walkers up to the fork.
- There's usually a Thug at the fork itself, so kill it without drawing the attention of the couple of Walkers that are usually nearby.
- Head down the left hand fork and keep following it. If you've completed Black Hawk Down by this point, there's usually a Suicider a short way past the Thug.
- After you get past the fork, you'll run into a group of three or four Walkers. Take your time to kill them, as one will sneak up via a set of stairs which leads to the water. If you don't know about it, it can easily take you by surprise.
- After killing them all, there's no more enemies to deal with, so continue down the walkway to arrive at a makeshift barricade. There's some crates which you can use to help you get over it, but it's so low you can just jump over it to save time.
- Continue past the barricade all the way to the end, then go into the right hand bungalow which has the loud music playing. You'll see a bunch of survivors including Jennifer Snider and Svetlana.
- William is in the back room, so go to the back of the bungalow and enter the bedroom.
- William is sitting on the bed with a woman who is passed out drunk. Talk to him to continue the quest.
- William tells you that he can't believe his wife sent someone to find him. It's the end of days and the last place he wants to be is with his wife. He bribes you with some cash and tells you to tell his wife that he's dead.
- Head back out the bungalow and return the way you came. Go to the Lighthouse if you can and either fast travel or use the car there to drive back to the Lifeguard Tower.
- Return to Max and talk to him to finish the quest.
Notes[]
- If you have the Lighthouse unlocked as a fast travel location, it will make this quest a lot quicker to complete.
- You can also start the side quest Two Hearts for Jennifer when you first arrive here.
- This is a good time to start Svetlana's continuous quest Time for Booze.
- There's several bottles of water in the bungalow, which makes it a good place to find them for Kim's quest.
- There's also usually one or more Drug Units in this bungalow, which you can sell for good cash.
- The Suicider will only appear if you've watched the cutscene while completing Black Hawk Down, so it might be worth it for you to complete this quest before getting to that point of the story,
