The Crowd Pleaser is a variant of the Shotgun and a legendary firearm featured in Dead Island rarely available from Metal chests or killed Zombies. It can only begin to appear past player level 19.

Overview[]

Unlike most other firearm variants and legendries, the Crowd Pleaser has a rather unique ability which only serves to extenuate its usefulness over the regular shotgun. Unlike other shotguns this one is semi-automatic, able to shoot each time you pull the trigger without having to wait for the pump action animation. This makes it an incredibly powerful close range weapon, even more so than other shotguns, and the most powerful close range firearm in the game. The weapon boasts very high close range damage, though the reload speed, accuracy and capacity are negligibly different to a regular orange 'legendary' rarity shotgun. Despite this, the semi-automatic firing makes tearing through both hordes of Walkers as well as special infected alike a breeze. Even the dangerous Butcher stands little chance against a fully loaded Crowd Pleaser. However, due to being a shotgun still, beyond a few meters away, the accuracy will severely drop and little more than wasting your ammo will be done if you try and hit anything at range.

Mods[]

As a shotgun, the Crowd Pleaser has access to all the shotgun mods:

Variants[]

Notes[]

  • Like any firearm, Purna Jackson is the best character to use the Crowd Pleaser with, as she get various bonuses from her skills for firearms.
  • Due to requiring player level 19 to have a chance to appear in metal chests and on killed zombies, the weapon is impossible to obtain in Ryder White's Campaign due to Ryder White's permanent level 15 cap.
  • Even though the pump animation will happen at a regular speed, making you think the shotgun has no faster rate of fire, pressing the attack button again will cancel the pump animation and allow you to shoot again.

Trivia[]

  • The Crowd Pleaser is based on the Franchi SPAS-12 shotgun.
  • In the 1995 science-fiction film Virtuosity, there is a scene where protagonist Parker Barnes instructs another character to hand him the "crowd-pleaser" in the backseat of their car; this turns out to be a SPAS-12 shotgun.
