Picture of Bliss is a medium difficulty side-quest given to the Hero by Jack in Dead Island.
Synopsis[]
The Hero must retrieve a picture of Jack's daughter from the looters who stole his wallet.
Walkthrough[]
- Talk to Jack to start the quest.
- He'll explain that he was on Banoi for a business trip and because of the outbreak he's going to miss his daughter's birthday. She'll be turning 10 and he's hardly ever been there with her. The picture is the only thing keeping him going, but it was with his wallet when it was stolen. He wants you to get it back for him.
- The looters are in a shop by the canal which runs through the city, so you need to head over to them.
- Exit the Warehouse and head left down Langar Road, all the way to the cross junction where the Market District is. Take a right here and go straight forwards, down an alleyway.
- There's several Walkers in the alley, as well as on the way to it, so deal with them quickly. They shouldn't be too much of a hassle.
- If you have a firearm the quest will get a lot easier from here on out. You'll be charged by punks with melee weapons from the shop opposite the alleyway. Engaging them in melee is dangerous, as they hit hard and can dodge your attacks, easily able to kill you in just a few hits.
- If you don't have a gun with you, I suggest either going to find one or having a high damage weapon with you, to try and kill them ASAP.
- Once the 3 or so looters are dead, advance on the shop. There's at least one or two more inside the shop armed with pistols, so take cover and either shoot back at them or wait to charge at them with your melee weapon.
- Once the punks are all dead, loot the shop. Jack's wallet is on the counter, make sure to pick it up.
- Be careful when exiting the shop. Infected can be attracted to the gunfire and will charge at you, though not every time. Be on your guard as you return to the main road.
- Once you're away from the canal, head back the way you came and return to the Warehouse.
- Enter it and talk to Jack to hand over the picture and get your reward for finishing the quest.
Notes[]
- There's a metal chest inside the shop where Jack's wallet is.
- You can also find ID Card #38 here as well.
- Very occasionally you can find a Ram who spawns just north of the shop with the looters. He can be attracted by the gunfire, so watch out.
- This is an ideal side quest to have active almost the entire game (anytime before the Heroes head to the Prison). Having it active (accepted but not completed) while performing other quests leaves it available if the Hero starts somewhere else, such as in the Sewers. This allows the use of the Patch 1.3 smart waypoint system so the player can make the side quest his tracked quest, exit the menu, and then exit the game. When reloaded the Hero will start in the Warehouse where items can be bought and sold, there's a Fast Travel point, and it's an easy matter to find some Raskols to kill for more pistol ammunition. The Act IV Prison Canteen does have a Fast Travel destination, though not a hub. As such it can be used in the same manner in Act IV. I have not checked to see what will happen if you exit the game with an Act IV quest active, however (will this quest be available anyway...).
