The Bleed Bomb is a projectile weapon mod featured in Dead Island. It was added to the game in Patch 1.3. The mod causes moderate physics damage and a bleed effect.
Overview[]
For a throwable, the bleed bomb is is a strange place. It's super effective against human enemies, but then so are most throwables, however it's only effective up to around character level 40ish, at which point it starts to require more than one to kill a zombie. It deals moderate amounts of base physics damage but then deals bleed effect damage for a short amount of time. Whilst this can kill zombies at low levels and deal high damage to tougher enemies such as Thugs, as the damage does not scale with level like normal melee or firearms do, as zombies get tougher with more health, they can quite easily start to survive the initial explosion and bleed effect, requiring more than one bomb to kill. With just a level 1 bleed effect, it just doesn't last long enough or do enough bleed damage to finish off whatever zombie it hits. At just $100 Cash and an assortment of mod items to craft, it's not a massive drain on resources, but with both Clamps and Metal Scrap being in demand for other, more effective, weapons and mods, the bleed bomb will fall by the wayside as player levels reach towards the max level cap of 60.

Notes[]
- Like all explosive projectile weapons, the player should not stand any where near the range of the blast radius. If the player is too close within the range of the explosion, it may cause instant death.
- Bleed Bomb is probably one of the weakest projectile explosives, other than the Molotov. It is proven quite useful against human enemies at any level, with the exception of Jason. However it is also proven to be quite ineffective against zombies with a higher level range, which is just like that of the Molotov.
- When the Bleed Bomb explodes, it cause a small amount of physical damage, or normal damage, then any enemies within its blast radius at that time will start to bleed continuously for a short period of time, causing bleed effect.
- Despite being a homemade grenade, it looks as though it were military issue, and bears a strong resemblance to the M26 hand grenade.
